ICES Faculty Scholars Program
ICES Western offers the ICES Faculty Scholars Program 2.0, a training opportunity for researchers who wish to develop their skills in population health research. The program offers experiential training using the linked health administrative data at ICES.
Since its inception, the Faculty Scholars Program has trained over 40 researchers from a variety of disciplines including anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, clinical neurological sciences, epidemiology and biostatistics, family medicine, medicine, nursing, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology, otolaryngology, paediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery.
The program provides structured learning opportunities aimed at increasing the knowledge base and practical skills of researchers. Participants are provided supports in completing an investigator-initiated project.
Program participants receive access to various supports including:
- ICES internal resources compiled over 30 years, including rich data and methods documentation;
- A repository of self-directed training materials developed by ICES Western;
- Mentorship in developing and executing a detailed ICES analytic plan (Participants are expected to secure research funding in support of their ICES Faculty Scholars project. Participants pay an initial administration fee and are billed monthly in accordance with ICES network-wide rates.); and
- Approval from the ICES Western Site Director to become an ICES Fellow at ICES Western.
